Introduction to Kilim Kilim, describes as a pileless textile with many applications produced by one of several flat weaving techniques that have a common or closely related heritage and are practiced in the various geographical area mainly in South eastern of Caspian Sea . Kilim is one of handcrafts which is made by interweaving the variously colored wefts and warps using wool, cotton and silk. Kilim has different kind of designs which is decorated by animals, birds, flowers and various geometric forms. Kilim is usually produced in three different sizes, large (3×1.8m), medium (2×1m) and small (1×0.6m). Natural colors extracted from plants are usually used for dyeing. A rectangular metal frame in combination with other equipments is used to weave the Kilim. The most common designs are illustrated in this booklet.
